EMPLOYMENT HISTORY

Sep 2005 – to date One North East (regional development agency for North East England)

Product Development Specialist Advisor (based in tourism marketing team). Project manager for the development of cruise tourism in North East England, taking the lead role to raise the profile of the region as a UK cruise destination and the Port of Tyne as a first class cruise port.

Key activity includes:

• Organising and attending exhibitions including Seatrade Cruise Shipping Miami and Seatrade Europe in Hamburg
• Liaising with international cruise lines and ground handlers to assist in preparation of shore excursion itineraries and sourcing of key information
• Organising familiarisation visits for ground handlers or international cruise operators. Hosted Intercruises, Aragon Tours, Morrison Tours, European Cruise International, Abercrombie and Kent and luxury cruise operator Silversea. 
• Developing and coordinating a welcome programme for visiting cruise ships including organising provision of tourist information staff and volunteers on the quay and pre season training
• Organising delivery of a cruise industry awareness programme for tourism businesses to educate and prepare for influx of cruise visitors and maximise opportunities as well as networking events where I deliver presentations 
• Delivery of regular reports and presentations to internal and external partners
• Management and development of cruise north east england website
• Developing promotional material and following procurement procedures to appoint design agencies 
• Appointment of consultants for example G.P. Wild to carry out research and economic impact assessment of cruise in the region
• Managing the cruise budget and securing private sector income from attractions, hotels, restaurants, retail outlets and transport providers 
• Working with internal and external industry partners including NGI Marketing, PR and Culture10 teams, Port of Tyne, Area Tourism Partnerships (ATP), local authorities, attractions, hotels, restaurants, blue and green badge guides, transport operators, retail outlets, tour operators, marketing agencies, event organisers and bodies such as Visit Britain, Cruise Britain, Passenger Shipping Association and Seatrade. 
• Working with key publishing bodies such as Seatrade, Dreamworld and Lloyds to place advertisements
